A club for everyone
Launched
There are many good reasons that a group of like-minded sailors and watersports enthusiasts decided to start Latchi Nautical Club.
In many ways, it has been long overdue. There have been some false starts in previous years; however, now, we are pleased that Latchi Nautical Club is finally active.
Like other nautical clubs in Cyprus, we aim to promote sailing and other watersports to a broad audience. We are a non-profit organisation that charges an annual membership fee. Types of membership vary from social members (for people that want to come to events and find out first what is happening) to athletic members, regular members who will have a more ‘active’ interest and role within the club and lastly, corporate members.
Membership of Latchi Nautical Club may be applied for by any private person or company entity.
Of course, like any ambitious club, we would like to see our membership multiply quickly but recognise that these things take a little time to ‘get off the ground’ (or ‘off the sea’ in our case). If you have questions to ask before considering membership please, get in touch. Many of our founder and regular members have a lot of experience of running a Yacht Club – but we would always welcome additional ideas or thoughts from new people.

Why start Latchi Nautical Club?
Many sailors and people that enjoy being on the water have been discussing beginning a yacht club for many years. As a club that anyone may join, we are better able [together] to serve boat owners, local businesses and the community.
We aim to work towards sustainable tourism both on land and sea in this, one of the last unspoilt parts of Cyprus. Importantly, we hope to collaborate with local authorities, ministerial departments, business leaders and the local community to achieve this. Sustainability and safeguarding our natural habitat is one of the main reasons for forming the club.
We hope to achieve these aims in a friendly and cooperative atmosphere fostering good relations with all interested parties.
The key objectives are:
-
- To express and to promote an interest in sailing and boating.
- To contribute to the development of the local port.
- The creation and cultivation of curiosity and love for the sea.
- The development and dissemination of watersports.
- The development of maritime tourism and thematic forms of tourism in the region.
- The leisure of the Members of the Club.
- The club’s contribution to social and cultural events.
We also look forward to being invited by those responsible for consultation on the future development of Latchi Harbour and surrounding infrastructure. There is a great deal of experience within the membership of Latchi Nautical Club that can add tremendous value to these discussions. Owing to its location, Latchi is the logical first port of entry in Cyprus for the international sailing and boating fraternity.
